Valley City State has named Ken Frenette as its new head men’s and women’s track and field and cross country coach.

Frenette, who competed in the 1992 Olympic Trials and represented Canada in the 1991 Pan-American Games in the marathon, had been the head coach at NCAA Division I Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C.

Campbell had 13 top-five finishes in cross country in their conference during his 17 seasons at Campbell. He had 50 all-conference runners during his time there.

“I am honored and excited to be given the opportunity to be the head coach of track and field and cross country at Valley City State University,” Frenette said. “It is with great anticipation that I look forward to working with both the athletes and (assistant) coach Ryan Brohmer in the New Year.”
