Carrington, North Star unanimous No. 1s

Carrington and North Star are unanimous No. 1s in the final Class B basketball rankings of 2011.

The unbeaten and defending state champion Cardinals are 4-0 and got all 10 first-place votes in the girls’ poll.

Grafton (4-0) and Central Cass (5-0) remain at No. 2 and 3.

Linton-Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock (4-0) is ranked seventh in voting done by the North Dakota Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association.

Two other area teams — Midkota (3-1) and Napoleon (2-2) —received votes.

LaMoure is up to No. 3 in the boys’ rankings. The 10-0 Loboes are behind only No. 1 North Star (8-0) and second-ranked Berthold (7-0). North Star routed previous No. 1 Beulah (7-1) last week in the Minors’ gym.

Hatton-Northwood is 10th.

Griggs County Central, with a 7-1 record, received votes.
