FARGO (AP) — Police said a woman bitten by a stray cat may have to get a series of rabies shots if the escaped animal can’t be found.

The Forum reported that the woman was bitten by the cat about midnight Sunday.

Police said an officer took the cat into care, but it escaped while the officer responded to a disturbance call.

Police said the cat has been spotted several times but officers have been unable to recapture the animal.

The large black cat has white markings on its chest, paws and belly. Police said it was wearing a collar and a tag with the name Oscar on it. The tag also had a disconnected phone number for the owner.
