Bismarck to share building inspectors
The Bismarck City Commission has agreed to extend its building inspection contract for the neighboring city of Lincoln.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The Bismarck City Commission has agreed to extend its building inspection contract for the neighboring city of Lincoln.
The Bismarck Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/tFTGz0 ) that the agreement is for two months but it may be extended.
Lincoln Mayor Bob Johnston says the Lincoln City Council wants to move to a year-long contract.
Lincoln officials agreed to use Bismarck's inspection staff through the end of 2011 after its full-time inspector resigned late this summer. Under the short-term pact, Lincoln pays Bismarck $65 per hour to do inspections.
Johnston says there are about 500 inspections done each year in Lincoln.
