The Jamestown quiet zone is back on, with one exception, according to Jamestown officials.

“We received a call from the FRA indicating they had issued a notice not to blow the horns at the four downtown crossings but the horns could continue at the Third Street crossing,” said Jeff Fuchs, city administrator.

Fuchs said the city wasn’t aware when the ruling would take effect and how long it would take BNSF to notify its on-train staff. Fuchs received the call from the FRA late Thursday afternoon.

Officials with the FRA will inspect the Third Street Southeast crossing as early as next week, according to Warren Flatau, spokesperson for the FRA. A decision on that crossing could be issued shortly thereafter.
