BURLINGTON, N.D. (AP) — About two dozen owners of flood-prone property near Burlington have received letters inviting them to attend a meeting on a proposed buyout plan.
The Minot Daily News reported that the meeting is set for Thursday at Burlington’s Town Hall.
The affected properties are located adjacent to the Des Lacs River and outside of the Burlington city limits. The Des Lacs joins the Souris River at Burlington. Both rivers surpassed flood stage this year.
If buyouts occur, they would be funded by a grant directed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services.
