BISMARCK (AP) — Crews are testing repairs to a sewage pipe in south Bismarck that has forced homeowners to cut down their water use.

The corroded pipe broke Wednesday. City spokeswoman Gloria David said Thursday the break has been repaired. City workers are flushing clean water through the pipe to see whether it will hold up.

The problem forced the city to divert untreated sewage into a storm-water drainage ditch that flows into the Missouri River.

David said Thursday those flows have stopped, and fresh water is being flushed through the ditch.

South Bismarck residents are being asked to limit showers, baths and laundry until the pipe testing is finished.

The affected people are residents and businesses south of Bismarck Expressway from Washington Street to Airport Road.
