BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Former U.S. Sen. Byron Dorgan has been appointed to the board of the Argonne National Laboratory.
The North Dakota Democrat calls the facility just outside Chicago “one of the crown jewels of America's scientific laboratories.” He says the Energy Department lab has an annual budget of nearly $700 million and employs more than 3,000 people.
Dorgan didn't seek re-election in 2010 after a 30-year career in Congress. He has engaged in numerous pursuits since, including writing another book; advising a Washington, D.C., law firm; helping create a Center for Native American Youth; and serving on the boards of two technology companies.
