Old email scam surfacing in N.D.
Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem said an old email scam has surfaced again in North Dakota.
BISMARCK (AP) — Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem said an old email scam has surfaced again in North Dakota.
He said the scam artists hack into an email account and use it to solicit so-called “emergency” donations from people on the account’s contact list. Stenehjem said it’s an unusual scam because it has multiple victims — the owner of the email account and the friends who wire money thinking they’re helping a friend.
Stenehjem said a Bismarck resident recently reported losing several thousand dollars to the scam.
