Lake Sakakawea has officially frozen over, at a record-late date.
RIVERDALE, N.D. (AP) — Lake Sakakawea has officially frozen over, at a record-late date.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said the Missouri River reservoir in North Dakota was declared frozen on Wednesday. The freeze-over date of Jan. 18 is the latest in history. The previous record was Jan. 16, in 2000.
An unseasonably warm early winter led to the new record.
