Connie was born on March 5, 1949 to Elder and LaVonne Scherbenske in Jamestown, ND. She attended school in Jamestown where she met her future husband Richard Allen Pokorny on the ice skating rink at the age of 12. She later graduated from Jamestown High School. Richard and Connie were married for 12 years and had 4 sons: Charles Allen, 43, Phillip James, 41, Thomas Richard, 36, and Andrew Mark, 34. In 1998, Connie moved to Orlando, FL to be closer to her son, Thomas and sister, Lori. There, she found her calling, working as a leasing agent. She excelled in this, as she did in all her jobs, and won several awards. She was one of the top leasing agents year after year for almost all of the ten years in the industry. She enjoyed helping people find their homes in the luxury apartment community where she worked. She was so successful because of her attention to detail and because she truly cared for everyone she came in contact with. Most of mom’s co-workers looked at her as a loving mother figure and she was proud to take on that role. She worked until she was unable to do so due to cancer treatments in 2011. She was a mother we all would hope for. Her diligence and pride she had caring for her family was second to none. From the precise sandwich making and delicious cooking to crisply ironing shirts with love, she always made time to care for her kids. She was happiest when she was with her kids and beamed with pride whenever she spoke of them (which was often.) Nothing was more important to her than their happiness. She first battled breast cancer in 1994, again in 2006, and succumbed to it in 2012. She always kept a positive attitude and inspired the lives of everyone she came in contact with. She truly was an angel on earth and now has taken her place in heaven. She is survived by her four sons, Charles (Dione), Phillip, Thomas (Cristina) and Andrew; brother, James (Tom) Scherbenske (Gale) and sister, Lori Conway (Merle); two grandchildren, Brayden Thomas Pokorny and Michelle Kay Pokorny-Schilling (Garrett) and 3 great-grandchildren, Ember, Emily and Elise.
