FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Horse racing could be returning to Fargo this year.
The races have been on hold for two years because of debt.
State Racing Commission director Winston Satron (SAT’-tron) tells KFGO radio that the board that runs the horse park in north Fargo has paid off several thousand in bills.
Horse Park North president Wes Heinert (HY’-nert) says the park will also operate electronic pull tabs at charitable gaming sites and run remote wagering sites, creating a new revenue stream.
The park still owes the city of Fargo $1.4 million for deferred special assessments and owes $250,000 to the Greater Fargo-Moorhead Economic Development Corp.
Satron says the goal is to make the track financially viable to repay its debt.
