Men charged in N.D. shooting get attorneys

The two suspects in a shooting in Beulah that left a man dead and his brother injured have been assigned public defenders. Twenty-nine-year-old Richard Whitman and 24-year-old Cody Borner both are due in court March 14 in Mercer County for preliminary hearings on charges of conspiracy to commit murder.

BEULAH, N.D. (AP) — The two suspects in a shooting in Beulah that left a man dead and his brother injured have been assigned public defenders.

Twenty-nine-year-old Richard Whitman and 24-year-old Cody Borner both are due in court March 14 in Mercer County for preliminary hearings on charges of conspiracy to commit murder.

They are accused in the Jan. 31 death of 22-year-old Mike Padilla in Padilla’s apartment. The shooting injured 21-year-old Timothy Padilla of Billings, Mont.
