The funeral for Reinhold P. Opp, Napoleon, ND will be Monday, February 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at the Napoleon City Cemetery, Napoleon, ND.

Reinhold son of George and Elizabeth (Himmerich) Opp was born October 27, 1923 on the farm near Napoleon, ND where he grew up and attended country school. Reiny was baptized and confirmed at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church at Streeter, ND. Reiny served in the Army from January 25, 1945 until November 24, 1946 stationed in Korea. After returning from the war he worked on the family farm on the Flat between Streeter and Napoleon. Reiny married Esther C. Mertz on November 27, 1947 at Streeter, ND. Reiny and Esther made their home on the Henry Rau farm until 1950 when they moved to the Opp family farm where they farmed and ranched. They were married for 64 years. Reiny was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Streeter and served as a deacon and a member of the council. He was the Commander for the Streeter Legion for two years and a lifetime Legion member, first at Streeter and then Napoleon. Reiny enjoyed working and fixing things. After moving to Napoleon he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir. In 2009 Reiny was admitted to the St. Rose Care Center at LaMoure, ND and to the Napoleon Care Center in January of 2011.

Reinhold died Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Napoleon Care Center, Napoleon, ND. He was 88 years old.

Reinhold is survived by his wife, Esther, Napoleon, ND; one son, Galen (Barbara) Opp, Napoleon, ND; two daughters, Julie Burgum, Casselton, ND; Pamelyn (John) Galegher, Thompson, ND; grandchildren, James (Abigail) Burgum; Benjamin (Katie) Burgum; Andrew Galegher; Jenna Galegher and Shannon Galegher; step grandchildren, Lance (Heather) Sherman and Shane (Meredith) Sherman; great-grandchildren, Parks and Grant Burgum; step great-grandchildren William and Wyatt Sherman; one brother, Arthur (Alice) Opp, Medina, ND; one sister-in-law, Genevieve Opp, Jamestown, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; Henry, August, Edward and Bennie, three sisters; Tillie Gehnert, Lucille Opp and Frieda Rau, son-in-law; Bradley Burgum.
