BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A Dickinson company that makes solar-powered machines to improve water quality is slated to be recognized at the White House for starting a successful business in a rural region.

The Bismarck Tribune reports that SolarBee Inc. received an invitation from the White House and U.S. Department of Agriculture to attend the event next Friday.

SolarBee employs about 70 people. Their machines are used in lakes, water towers and wastewater facilities across the U.S. and in several foreign countries.

SolarBee received a federal loan guarantee that allowed the company to get the bank loans it needed to get started.
