Blue Jays No. 5 seed for West hockey

Jamestown High School is the No. 5 seed for the West Region hockey tournament.

Jamestown High School is the No. 5 seed for the West Region hockey tournament.

The Blue Jays (7-13-1) open against fourth-seeded Minot (11-10) at 1:30 p.m. at the VFW Sports Center in Bismarck.

The Magicians won both meetings between the two teams this season. They lost a close one in the Magic City Dec. 3 (3-2), but Minot rolled here 7-3 Jan. 13.

The tournament continues on Friday and concludes Saturday. The top four teams advance to the state tournament in Grand Forks Feb. 23-25.

Game 1: Williston (2-17)/Dickinson (3-18) winner vs. No. 1 Bismarck Century (17-3-1), 11 a.m.

Game 2: No. 5 Jamestown (7-13-1) vs. No. 4 Minot (11-10), 1:30 p.m.

Game 3: No. 7 Hazen-Beulah (9-12) vs. No. 2 Bottineau-Rugby (17-4), 5 p.m.

Game 4: No. 6 Mandan (8-13) vs. No. 3 Bismarck (12-8-1), 7:30 p.m.

Friday’s games

Game 5: Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2, 11 a.m.

Game 6: Loser Game 3 vs. Loser Game 4, 1:30 p.m.

Game 7: Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2, 5 p.m.
