ND law agencies getting anti-violence training

Law enforcement officers, health care professionals and social service workers are expected to take part in a training session on dealing with domestic violence.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Law enforcement officers, health care professionals and social service workers are expected to take part in a training session on dealing with domestic violence.

The Fargo Police Department is hosting the session Tuesday and Wednesday.

A Nashville, Tennessee police lieutenant who is an expert on domestic violence prevention is the featured speaker.

Fargo Police Lt. Joel Vettel says the topics will include investigating cases of choking, and ways to help children who may be victims of domestic abuse.

The Fargo department's ongoing campaign against domestic violence was started last year by the department, the Prairie St. John's mental health facility and the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center.
