A group that promotes family farms and environmental protection is holding a pair of meetings later this month on the Bakken oil development and the social and economic impacts it may have for the area.

LEMMON, S.D. (AP) — A group that promotes family farms and environmental protection is holding a pair of meetings later this month on the Bakken oil development and the social and economic impacts it may have for the area.

The meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the American Legion meeting room in Lemmon and at 7 p.m. later that day at the Adams County Court House in Hettinger, N.D.

The group said the meetings will focus on how oil and gas development might affect land, water and communities. They will also cover what communities with oil and gas development are doing to reduce problems that can come with rapid development.

The meetings are free and open to the public.
