Jury returning with verdict in Cave murder trial

The jury has reached a verdict in Janelle Cave's murder trial, according to the Southeast District Court’s clerk of court.

Cave, 22, Jamestown, is charged with murder and criminal conspiracy in the April 2011 death of Abdi Ali Ahmed, 18, Jamestown. The charges are Class AA felonies punishable by life in prison without parole.

Ahmed was found dead in a road ditch on April 30, 2011. He died of blunt head trauma and also suffered stab wounds.

The trial began last week and was given to the jury for deliberation Wednesday afternoon. Judge Thomas E. Merrick is presiding.

Facing the same charges as Cave is Leron Lee Howard, 34, Jamestown. His trial is set to begin Aug. 7.
