St. John’s Lutheran Church will begin the Lenten season with an Ash Wednesday Service at 5.30 p.m. Wednesday, followed by supper. The worship will include Holy Communion and the Imposition of Ashes.

The overall Lenten theme is “40 Days of Spiritual Renewal,” with opportunity for Wednesday worship, Bible studies (led by the Rev. Peter Strommen) and a booklet that guides daily prayer, scripture readings and study questions.

Lenten services continue each Wednesday through March 28, beginning at 5:30 p.m. followed by a supper at 6.15 p.m. (freewill donation). Each service includes Holy Communion and a personal reflection on the theme: “My Faith at a Crossroads: Defining Moments.” Lay speakers are Larry Eslick, Barb Monson, Gavin Kutz and Joan Enderle.

The final service on March 28 will feature a Seder meal led by “Jews for Jesus” and will teach the close connections between the Jewish Passover Meal and Christian Communion.
