Class B roundup: Rockets hold off Rebels

The Rockets’ Taryn Jacob and Cassidy Weber combined for seven three-pointers and 31 of the team’s 56 points, as New Rockford-Sheyenne rolled by seven in Kensal.

The Rockets’ Taryn Jacob and Cassidy Weber combined for seven three-pointers and 31 of the team’s 56 points, as New Rockford-Sheyenne rolled by seven in Kensal.

NR-S came out strong, outscoring P-B-K 21-10 in the first behind a pair of treys by Jacob and seven total points by Weber.

Shantel Albrecht tossed in a game-high 18 points for the Rebels.

Carrington’s Becca Scherr lit up the gym with four three-pointers and 14 points, leading the No. 1-ranked Cardinals (18-1) past the Washburn Cardinals in Carrington’s final regular-season game in Washburn on Thursday.

Scherr and teammate Sierra Rosenau teamed up for a pair of treys in the second period, helping Carrington outscore Washburn 19-6 in the frame to go up 32-17 at the break.

Spanky Clayton led Washburn with 18 points.

The Napoleon Imperials suffered a rough second period at home against Kindred on Thursday.

Second team all-state junior Sheridon Dewald left the game with an injury, while the No.2-ranked Vikings exploded to outscore the Imperials 27-4 in the frame to take a 26-point lead at the half and never looked back.

Kindred’s Kellie Schmit poured in 10 of her game-high 25 points in the critical second period.

Napoleon was paced by Kendra Weigel with 12.

Carrington’s Lucas Brown (106 pounds), Joe Bakke (120), Austin Schuldheisz (195) and 220-pounder Cordell Schroeder will all wrestle for titles today.

A big day has the Cardinals in the driver’s seat for the team title as well.

Carrington has a 12.5 point edge over second-place Lisbon, 125.5-113. Oakes is third at 111.

Oakes has three wrestlers gunning for titles in Kaleb Sell (106), Cody Voegeli (145) and 113-pounder Erik Loepp, who will square off against LaMoure’s Caleb Dorich.

The Broncos have title chances from Jace Berg at 120, 132 by Dylan Urbach and Joe Nelson at 182.

Napoleon, which is in sixth place, has three of their big boys in the hunt in Steven Weigel (160), Jared Reis (170) and 220-pounder Andrew Beine.

Ellendale-Edgeley-Kulm’s Jamison Jangula pinned his way into the 195-pound title tilt where he’ll face Carrington’s Schuldheisz.

South Border’s Black Bosch punched his ticket in the 126-pound final where he’ll meet Killdeer’s Logan Schaper.

The Mustangs won the dual title earlier in the day, defeating Lisbon.
