District 7 dominates Day 1

District 7 teams won three of the four games at the Region 4 tournament in Devils Lake Monday night.
Carrington opened the day with a 57-48 victory over Benson County as Scott Burnham poured in 25 points for the Cardinals.
Carrington trailed 12-7 after one quarter, but outscored the Bobcats 50-36 the rest of the way.
Darren Young’s 21 points led Benson County.
Four Winds-Minnewaukan trailed St. John 35-26 at halftime, but it was all Indians in the second half as they outscored their opponent 46-29 over the final 16 minutes.
Christian Ironroad’s 27 points led everybody for the Indians. Ryan Hill added 15.
No. 1 and unbeaten North Star moved into the semifinals with a 64-48 triumph over New Rockford-Sheyenne.
Jake Hagler topped North Star with 25 points.
The Rockets gave a game effort and were led by Mason Haley’s 14-point effort.
Warwick will face top-ranked North Star in the semifinals after routing Munich-Starkweather, 71-54. Melvin Langstaff led the Warriors with 33 points, while Kyle Ironhawk and Mitchell Greene contributed 12 points apiece.

Maple Valley survived and advanced with a narrow 50-48 win over Wyndmere-Lidgerwood in the final quarterfinal game of the Region 1 Tournament in Fargo Monday night.
Three Raiders scored in double figures as they held on for the 2-point win. Ethen Preston topped Maple Valley with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Jordan Haseleu (14) and Ty Smith (10) combined for 24 more.
Jeff Illies poured in 24 points to lead all scorers in the game for Wyndmere-Lidgerwood.
Fargo Oak Grove won the opener over Milnor, 77-73 in an offensive affair. Jordan Funfar led the Grovers with 15 markers.
Briton Bussman carried the load for Milnor with 29 points.
Eric Bachmeier’s 18-point night led the way as Kindred got points from nine different players in rolling over Hankinson, 75-54. NDSU football recruit Jack Plankers added 17.
Matt Zimmerman and Ellery Bresnahan hit for 22 and 21 points respectively to help Central Cass glide by Lisbon, 82-63.
Anthony WhirlwindSoldier led four Lisbon scorers in double figures with 13 points. Nicholas Anderson, Nathan Mangin and Jenner Manske added 10 apiece.
