Eastern North Dakota gets 2-5 inches of snow

Snowfall in eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota on Presidents Day isn't expected to affect the spring flood outlook.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Snowfall in eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota on Presidents Day isn't expected to affect the spring flood outlook.

The National Weather Service reports that 2-5 inches of snow fell in parts of the region Monday. Fargo-Moorhead got about 3 1/2 inches.

Meteorologist Jim Kaiser tells the Grand Forks Herald that the snowfall is not the beginning of a trend of “snow system after snow system.” He says the Monday snow shouldn't affect the flood outlook for the Red River Valley in part because of the dry fall and early winter.

The latest flood outlook shows little chance of major flooding in the valley this spring.
