New Rockford-Sheyenne and Lakota-Adams-Edmore notched comfortable wins at the first day of the District 7 Tournament at Fort Totten on Friday night.
Ashley Ystaas and Taryn Jacob teamed for 30 points for the Rockets as they rolled over Harvey-Wells County, 64-46. They held the Hornets to just 12 second-half points. Cassidy Weber added 10.
Jessica Meland topped the Hornets with 16 points. Kara Fike added 14.
Fallyn Freije led L-A-E with 16 points as they topped the host Indians, 58-36.
Latisha Teel was the lone Four Winds-Minnewaukan-Warwick girl in double figures with 13 points.
Top-ranked Carrington, the top seed in the district, had an opening-round bye.

Kidder County won the opener and Linton-Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock steamrolled in Game 2 on the opening day of the District 5 tournament in Hazelton.
The Pirates built a 17-7 lead after one quarter and never looked back in beating Strasburg-Zeeland, 53-44. Mary Nicholson led the way with 16 points. Sadie Rohrich added 12.
Jennifer Wikenheiser had a game-best 18 points for the Clippers.
The Tigers held South Border to 15 second-half points to pull away for a 72-41 win.
McKenna Flyberg sank five threes en route to 19 points for the Lions.
Kalli Scherbenske’s 10 topped the Mustangs.
Napoleon, the top seed, got a bye in Round 1.
