Feb 16: 3:33 p.m., fire department responded to 1010 16 1/2 St. NE, single family dwelling, to a report of smoke coming from a structure.
Feb 16: 3:33 p.m., fire department responded to 1010 16 1/2 St. NE, single family dwelling, to a report of smoke coming from a structure. Firefighters found no fire. Cause: home owner started wood-burning stove. No firefighter injuries. Time out: 25 minutes.
Feb. 17: 9:54 a.m., fire department responded to 305 First Ave. NW, Vining Oil nuilding, to a report of a fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire and secured the scene. Cause: accidental with ongoing investigation. No firefighter injuries. Time out: four days and 8 hours.
Feb. 17: 6:30 p.m., fire department responded to 305 First Ave. NW, Vining Oil building, to a report of a fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire. Cause: rekindle. No firefighter injuries. Time out: 30 minutes.
Feb. 18: 4:01 p.m., fire department responded to Second Street and 17th Avenue Southwest, to a report of a grass fire. There was no grass fire in the area; the grass fire was about 6 miles west of town. One unit responded to the area and confirmed that it was a controlled burn. No firefighter injuries. Time out: one hour.
Feb. 21: 9:35 a.m., fire department responded to 1600 11th Ave. NE, multi-family dwelling, to a report of smoke in the hall way. Firefighters found no fire, but did extract smoke from the building. Cause: unattended cooking. No firefighter injuries. Time out: 35 minutes.
Feb. 21: 11:18 a.m., ready squad responded to 105 Third St. SE, Alfred Dickey Library, to a report of strange odor. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire none was found. Cause: hot light ballast. Time out: 10 minutes.
Feb. 24: 3:14 a.m., ready squad responded to 608 16th St. NW, single family dwelling, to investigate carbon monoxide detector activation. Firefighters checked for carbon monoxide and detected 48 ppm. Cause: heating system malfunction. Time out: 45
minutes.
