BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A Texas man convicted in North Dakota of attempting to transport a minor for criminal sexual activity is asking for a mistrial.

A jury found 47-year-old Rodney Goodwin guilty earlier this month. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole.

Goodwin says in his appeal that prosecutors made inappropriate references to child pornography in the trial and that tainted the jury.

Federal prosecutors were not available for comment.
