Comedy

“Barefoot in the Park,” a comedy dinner theater by 2nd ACT Community Theater, is at 6 p.m. Thursday–Friday at the Quality Inn banquet room. Tickets are available only in advance at the Arts Center. Tickets are $20 for Arts Center members and $25 for others. Tickets can be purchased by calling 251-2491.

Jamestown High School Choir Pops Concert and Taco Feed starts at 5 p.m. Monday at the Jamestown High School commons area. Tickets are $8 a person or $25 a family and are available at the door or from any JHS choir member. The concert begins at 7 p.m.

A jam session with the Whoever Can Come Band is at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Barnes County Museum, 315 Central Ave. N., Valley City. There is no admission charge.

Jamestown Community Open Mic is at 7 p.m. every fourth Tuesday at Grace Episcopal Church, 405 Second Ave. NE. All performers are welcome.

Around Town

Wood carving with a local wood carving group is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays in the Arts Center’s Hansen Studio. There is no charge. Call Andy Kudrna at 320-5075 with questions.

Open swimming is from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the Jamestown High School pool. Those under 12 must be accompanied by a parent. There is no admission charge.

Public skating is from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Wilson Arena. Cost is $2 for children, $3 for adults and $5 for families and rentals are $2. Outdoor rinks at McElroy, Meidiner, Nickeus, and Leapaldt parks are open from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. There is no admission.

Special Events

“Music Legends,” the annual Jamesriver Figure Skating Club ice show, is at 7 p.m. March 23-24 and 2 p.m. March 24-25 at Wilson Arena. Tickets are $9 for adults and $7 for students, free for preschoolers. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Country Gardens, Hugo’s, from any skater or by calling 269-2604. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.

Libraries/etc.

National Buffalo Museum hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday by appointment only. Admission: $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and AAA members, $10 for a family and $1 for children ages 6 to 18.

Alfred Dickey Library hours are 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. To access the Story Line, call 252-7464. The library is located at 105 Third St. SE.

Stutsman County Library hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The library is located at 910 Fifth St. SE.

The Arts Center, 213 Second Ave. NW, Jamestown, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and by appointment Sunday. There is no admission charge.

The Putnam House in Carrington is open for special events and by appointment by calling 701-652-2090. There is no admission charge.

The Barnes County Historical Museum, 315 Central Ave. N., Valley City, is open year round from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is a freewill donation.

The Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile Historic Site near Cooperstown is open by appointment only for the winter season. Contact Mark Sundlov at 701-797-3691 for more information.

Art

Ballroom Dancing, with Jackie Gately-Sather, is at 7:15 p.m. Thursdays, through March 15 at Top O’ the Stairs Dance. Cost is $40 for Arts Center members and $50 for others.

Pottery Wheel Jump Start, with Tammy Jones, is at 1 p.m. Saturdays, March 3, 10 and 24, at the Hansen Arts Studio. Cost is $55 for Arts Center members and $65 for others.

Mosaics, Scenes and Signs, with Molly McLain, is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday March 6 and 20 at the Hansen Arts Studio. Cost is $25 for Arts Center members and $35 for others.

Fused Glass Intro with Jaci Trefz is at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at the Hansen Arts Studio. Cost is $35 for members and $45 for others.

Helmut Albrecht’s art is on display at Unison Bank for the month of March. Unison features a new artist is its lobby each month.
