County Mathcounts held
The Stutsman County Mathcounts competition was held at Medina School on Feb. 10. Teams competing were from Jamestown, Medina, Pingree-Buchanan, Montpelier and Kensal schools.

Teams competing were from Jamestown, Medina, Pingree-Buchanan, Montpelier and Kensal schools.
Jamestown won the competition with 34.5 points, followed by Medina with 29.5 points, and Pingree-Buchanan rounded out the top three with 20.5 points.
The top individuals were Ben Hanson of Jamestown in first place, Chris Sorenson of Jamestown finished second, Austin Haakenson of Medina was third and Noah Grosulak finished fourth.
Mathcounts is a competition where students compete individually and as a team by answering numerous mathematical problems.
Each county has a competition with the top teams qualifying for state competition in March. Hanson and Sorenson qualified individually for the state competition.
