Napoleon holds off pesky P-B-K

P i n g re e - B u ch a n a n - Kensal nearly kept its magical postseason run going, but Sheridon Dewald got in the way.

The Napoleon star junior poured in 31 points as the Imperials nipped the Rebels 63-60 in the first semifinal game of the Region 3 tournament on Tuesday night in Napoleon.

The Imperials will face Linton-Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock in the championship Thursday night.

The Rebels led 21-19 after one quarter, but Napoleon went up by 10 at the half (39-39). Pingree-Buchanan-Kensal drew even though after three at 47-all before the Imperials won the final quarter, 16-13. Dewald scored 13 points in the final frame.

Kelly Carlson had 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Rebels. Amanda Beckley (13), Morgan Thomas (12) and Shantel Albrecht (11) were also in double figures.

Kendra Weigel added 16 for Napoleon. Both she and Dewald buried four threes.

Linton-Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock held South Border to 14 first-half points and went on to win 50-35.

Kayln Schneider led the Lions with 17 points, while McKenna Flyberg added 10.

Karly Wald paced the Mustangs with 13 points.

Neither team made a three-pointer in the game, going a combined 0-for-13.
