Three charges of impersonating a police officer that were brought against Darrell Graf, Medina, N.D., in June 2011 were dropped last month.
McIntosh County States Attorney Terry Elhard filed a motion to dismiss the charges on Feb. 14, according to the Ashley Tribune.
Graf was acting on behalf of Zeeland, N.D., Mayor Bob Schumacher when he investigated a disagreement between two first responder parties when a person removed gear from an emergency vehicle from the other party. Graf was deputized by Schumacher.
The person who removed the emergency gear was Neil Meidinger, a first responder and McIntosh County commissioner. Elhard serves as legal counsel for the commission.
Graf also investigated an alleged case of sexual abuse by speaking with an individual at the Zeeland School.
The Ashley Tribune said Elhard claimed Arnie Rummel, special agent with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, urged him to bring the charges.
