FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Hannah Larson scored 18 of her 19 points in the first half as Bismarck Century coasted to an 84-44 win over Fargo Davies Thursday in the first round of the North Dakota girls Class A basketball tournament.
The Patriots shot 67 percent and forced 18 turnovers in the first half to take a 52-18 lead at the half. For the game, the Davies (11-12) committed 29 turnovers and shot just 31 percent from the field.
West Fargo 60, Minot 55
FARGO, N.D. — Lexi Lennon sparked West Fargo to a 60-55 quarterfinal victory.
Lennon scored 21 points, hitting four of the Packers’ five 3-pointers. Erin Krogh added 17 points and Cassidy Thorson 10 for the East Region champs, who improved to 22-1 and stretched their winning streak to 16 games.
Fargo Shanley 45, Mandan 35
FARGO, N.D. — Rachel Weir and Haley Brenner helped spark Fargo Shanley to a 45-35 victory over Mandan.
Weir paced the Deacons (19-4) with 17 points and four assists. Brenner added 10 points.
Bismarck 62, GF Central 34
FARGO, N.D. — Bismarck pulled away in the second half, posting a 62-34 quarterfinal victory over Grand Forks Central.
The Demons, leading by eight points at the half, held the Knights to just 11 points in the final 18 minutes.
Boys Mandan 67, West Fargo 62
FARGO, N.D. — Mandan outscored West Fargo 7-2 in overtime to post a 67-62 win over the Packers in Thursday’s opening round.
Devin Coyle led the way for Mandan (18-5), scoring 26 points to send the Braves to the semifinals. Aaron Janz added 12 points and 10 rebounds and Seth Westby 11 points and three assists.
GF Red River 73, St. Mary’s 57
FARGO, N.D. — Mack Arvidson had a double-double and Mac Kroeplin added 22 points as Grand Forks Red River beat Bismarck St. Mary’s 73-57.
Arvidson had 15 points and 14 rebounds for the Roughriders (21-2), who outscored the Saints 35-23 in the second half.
Fargo Shanley 74, Minot 62
FARGO, N.D. — A.J. Jacobson and Dylan Alderman powered a second-half surge as Fargo Shanley posted a 74-62 quarterfinal victory over Minot.
Jacobson scored 21 points and Alderman added 18 to lead four Deacons in double figures. The East Region champs, trailing 27-23 at the half, outscored the Magicians 51-35 over the final 18 minutes.
Wahpeton 66, Bismarck 64
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Jeremy Bontjes’ 3-pointer with 1 second left lifted Wahpeton to a 66-64 quarterfinal victory over Bismarck.
Bontjes finished with a game-high 25 points for the Huskies (17-6). Blaze Irwin added 11 points for Wahpeton.
Tyler Unruh and Devin Schirado paced the Demons (19-4) with 16 points apiece. Dexter Werner, a Mr. Basketball finalist, posted a double-double with 14 points and 18 rebounds.
After winning 10 straight games heading into the region championship game, Bismarck has now lost two straight.
