Minn. FBI moves to new facility in Brooklyn Center

BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (AP) — The FBI division that oversees Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota has moved from an office space in downtown Minneapolis to a standalone facility in Brooklyn Center.

The new facility provides greater security — including bulletproof glass and blast-proof walls.

It also has a fully-equipped emergency operations center that lets agents and staff get to work faster in the event of a crisis.

FBI spokesman Kyle Loven says the emergency operations center allows personnel to monitor a crisis and link up to intelligence immediately. In the past, agents had to set up a makeshift command center when emergencies arose.

The building also has room for the Twin Cities field office to grow, and has the space agents and task forces need to do the work they do.
