Northwestern is doing what they always seem to do — peak in March.

Friday, the Jimmies couldn’t do anything to slow down the Red Raiders Express.

Northwestern got 31 points from junior guard Kami Kuhlmann and rolled into the Elite 8 of the NAIA national tournament with an 80-58 win over Jamestown College.

The Jimmies played uphill most the game and did a lot of it without point guard Hannah Steele, who fouled out, played just 19 minutes and did not score.

Amber Ramlo and Kellie Schuneman, the Jimmies’ only senior that plays regularly, had 10 points each.

The Jimmies were cold all morning, shooting just 24.6 percent (17-for-69).

They trailed 35-27 at halftime, but made a mini-run early in the second half to get within three at 38-35, but the Red Raiders (25-7) scored the next nine points and sailed the rest of the way.

Northwestern is the 2-time defending national champions and are a staggering 36-6 in 11 national tournament appearances.

The Jimmies, who beat Northwestern in Jamestown 64-62 back on Nov. 5, finished the season 27-5, setting a new school record for wins in a season.
