Patriots cruise in semifinals

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Bismarck Century pulled away in the second half for a 54-38 semifinal victory over Fargo Shanley at the North Dakota girls Class A basketball tournament in Friday.

The Patriots outscored the Deacons 29-13 over the final 18 minutes, sending Century to the title game for the second time in three years.

Hannah Larson led the way with 21 points for Century (21-3). Alexis Jacobs added 11 points and 10 rebounds, helping the Patriots outrebound Shanley 37-21.

Sarah Jacobson finished with 13 points to top Shanley (19-5).

Bismarck Century will face West Fargo in the championship game today. West Fargo defeated Bismarck 65-56 in the late semifinal on Friday night.

Mandan 75,

Fargo Davies 70

Mic Longtin had 22 points as Mandan stayed alive at the North Dakota girls Class A basketball tournament with a 75-50 win over Fargo Davies on Friday.

Longtin added team highs in 3-pointers with four and assists with five. She was 4-for-9 from 3-point range and 8-for-14 overall.

McKayla Howling Wolf and Courtney Goetz added 13 points apiece for the Braves (18-6), who will play for fifth place.

Lexi Klabo had 18 points and seven rebounds to lead the Golden Eagles (11-13).

Mandan led 29-21 at the half.

Minot, 64GF Central 46

Minot jumped out to a big early lead and cruised to a 64-46 consolation semifinal victory over Grand Forks Central on Friday at the North Dakota Class A girls’ basketball tournament.

Holly Johnson scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Majettes (17-7), who raced out to a 20-point halftime lead. Aundrea Hankla added 17 points and Jayd Eggert 13 for Minot.

Nicole Fennell paced Grand Forks Central (9-15) with 15 points and six rebounds.

The Majettes shot 45 percent from the field while holding the Knights to 24.5 percent.

Minot will take on Mandan for fifth place.
