The Jamestown Planning Commission voted to deny approval of the Walicski’s Extension plat during its regular meeting Monday. The action was unanimous and followed an opinion from the city attorney that the lot sizes did not meet state requirements because they were less than an acre.
Walicski’s Extension is located along a frontage road on the west side of U.S. Highway 281 north of Jamestown. The plat redefines the lots in the area so homeowners can sell or refinance the lots.
“Lot sizes are dictated by state code to accommodate home sewers,” said Harley Trefz, president of the commission. “We suggest owners buy adjacent land and have each lot individually replatted so it is large enough to accommodate a sewer.”
In other business, the commission approved changing the zoning of Block 1, Original Addition Jamestown from a General Multiple Dwelling District to a Local Commercial District. The changed area is the block containing the old Jamestown Hospital.
The commission also accepted the resignation of Dwight Schmidt. Katie Andersen, Jamestown mayor, is expected to name a replacement in the next weeks.
