The Edgeley Fire Department has received a $500 contribution from the Rural Development Finance Corporation one-time grant program through Dakota Valley Electric Cooperative.
Originally organized in 1889, with 14 men, handcarts and 600 feet of hose, the Edgeley Fire Department is now served by about 30 men and women. With the contribution, the department intends to convert its jet fuel tanker to a water tanker. The total cost of the project is $35,000, the fire department said.
The Rural Development Finance Corporation offers these one-time grants to community projects in North Dakota communities with populations under 5,000 through its members — all 16 North Dakota Rural Electric Cooperatives and nine of the North Dakota Rural Telecommunications Cooperatives.
