Mary Schwartzkopf, Trendsetters director, directs, choreographs and produces shows as well as models throughout the year at the Buffalo Mall.
No purchase is necessary to attend or audition at the Buffalo Mall Trendsetters’ auditions. Those under 18 years of age will need a parent or guardian signature on the application. This audition is open to children and adults (including adults age 60+). Any child under 18 modeling for this event will need a parent present.
Trendsetter applications are due by March 29 in the mall office display box. Applications may also be mailed to the mall office. Applications can be found in the mall office or by contacting Schwartzkopf. Applications in by the deadline will list those model applicants for the Buffalo Mall Trendsetters’ auditions on March 31.
Those auditioning for the Trendsetters Team will provide their own apparel and footwear for the event. Jeans in good taste can be worn.
On March 31, the Trendsetter auditions practice starts at noon. The show starts at 1 p.m. in the Buffalo Mall Center Court. Orientation including a modeling class will begin after the show along with team pictures being taken.
There is no payment for being a Trendsetter model, which requires a time commitment. It is up to mall merchants to choose outfits they want presented or any discounts given to the model on the outfit that would be worn for the show or store merchandise.
Three to four shows are usually planned for the mall events but this can vary. Past shows also included mall models to model in the Jamestown Bridal Show and the Mrs. North Dakota America State Pageant fundraiser event.
Models will also have the opportunity to be photographed in their style show attire when they are assigned to model for a planned fashion show event during the year.
