FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A Minnesota man accused of shooting another man outside a North Dakota movie theater is arguing self-defense.
Prosecutors told jurors during the opening day of Felipe Estrada's attempted murder trial in Fargo that the 45-year-old Dilworth, Minn., man fired seven bullets into his ex-girlfriend's former husband and pistol-whipped another man who came to Juan Garza's aid. Defense attorney Steve Mottinger told jurors that Estrada was defending himself.
The trial is expected to last four days. Estrada also faces an aggravated assault charge for the alleged pistol-whipping and two reckless endangerment charges for shots allegedly fired at the woman and through a theater window.
