Jamestown College’s KJKR will go live at 10 p.m. Friday on 88.1 FM, launching a 4,000-watt college radio station reaching a potential audience of 25,000 listeners.
Students will celebrate the launch at a party Friday night featuring DJ Will and the bands Eden Parker and D Mills and the Thrills. The station’s first broadcast will be live from the launch party.
Students and advisers have been planning the station’s programming lineup. Listeners can expect a mix of music on the college rock format station, said Steve Listopad, Student Media Center director.
“Our schedule will be mostly music, and we hope to have some artists in for live studio sessions,” he says.
The station joins the Student Media Center at Jamestown College, the home of the award-winning student newspaper, the Collegian, and JCTV. The student-managed Media Center has received accolades from North Dakota Professional Communicators, Associated Collegiate Press and Innovate ND.
