New high school in West Fargo given a name

The new high school in North Dakota's fifth-largest city will be called West Fargo Sheyenne High.

WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The new high school in North Dakota's fifth-largest city will be called West Fargo Sheyenne High.

The school board voted unanimously this week to approve the name. The board also set up a process to pick the school's mascot and colors in the next couple of months.

The current Sheyenne Ninth Grade Center will be expanded to create the city's second high school. Construction on the academic addition is to begin in early April. An auditorium and other areas will be added next year.

West Fargo voters about a year ago approved an $82.5 million bond package to fund new schools in response to a rapid rise in enrollment.
