Letter to the editor: ND needs more like Santorum

The North Dakota Republican choice of Rick Santorum, a man who openly acknowledges God and seeks his wisdom and direction, is very comforting to me. I believe North Dakota’s choice for president is our cry for Godly and moral men and women to lead us.
God is the only means by which human morality can be measured, so it behooves us to elect leaders at every level who understand the spiritual warfare that takes place in the human heart between good and evil. The goodness of God is the only explanation for North Dakota and America’s success.
According to the Word of God, Psalm 111:10 points out that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,” and follows up by explaining we can also have good understanding if we obey his commandments. Santorum understands that when the spirit of God does not control the minds of our leaders we have confusion, chaos and deception as the norm.
Two issues in North Dakota come to mind. The University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux controversy is in a state of chaos. One reservation had wise leadership and let the people vote. The other reservation leaders chose not to vote. Citizens in our district were for the nickname approximately 7-1. The Legislature did the right thing first by responding to the people. This overreach by the NCAA needs to be confronted by every university that is bullied with their political correctness foolishness. Team nicknames have nothing to do with enforcement against recruiting and academic violations of college athletics.
Another example of apparent deceit occurred during the 2011 legislative session when a few Senate leaders took deliberate action to stop popular House Bill 1450 (the Human Life Bill) from reaching a full vote by manipulating a motion to table; thus preventing the Senate and our citizens from knowing whether or not it would have passed or failed.
Christians, let’s be accountable to almighty God. There are more Santorum types in North Dakota and in America for leadership positions.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” Psalm 33:12a
