Minot airport director: Larger facility needed
Minot International Airport Director Andy Solsvig says the city needs a terminal three times the size of the existing 32,400-square-foot facility.
MINOT (AP) — Minot International Airport Director Andy Solsvig says the city needs a terminal three times the size of the existing 32,400-square-foot facility.
Solsvig says the airport has two gates but needs four, and that the 800 vehicle parking spots need to be doubled.
Minot’s air travel numbers have been rising since 2009, in large part due to the oil boom in western North Dakota. The Minot Daily News reported that boardings in Minot in January increased 63 percent over the year, and in February they were up 85 percent.
Solsvig said if that continues, the terminal built for 100,000 passengers a year will see more than 220,000 this year.
