Afghanistan likely for N.D. Guard unit
A North Dakota Army National Guard unit has been notified that it likely will be called to duty in Afghanistan.
BISMARCK (AP) — A North Dakota Army National Guard unit has been notified that it likely will be called to duty in Afghanistan.
The Bismarck-based Detachment 42 Operational Airlift Squadron is likely to deploy early next year. The eight soldiers specialize in transporting both cargo and personnel.
The unit served in Afghanistan in late 2004 and early 2005 and in the Horn of Africa in 2009 and 2010.
