Fargo Marathon to snake into Moorhead

FARGO (AP) — This year’s Fargo marathon route will snake into neighboring Moorhead, Minn., after the lack of spring flooding.

The 26.2-mile route initially had been planned entirely in Fargo, which has dealt with major Red River flooding the past three springs. That wasn’t the case this spring, and now a 1.5-mile section of the marathon has been mapped out in Moorhead.

An official with USA Track & Field is to come to Fargo on April 9 to certify the new route.

The 8th annual Scheels Fargo Marathon is May 19. Other marathon events are scheduled the preceding two days.
