Local athletes cited for awards
Alison Allmer and Michael Hust of Jamestown High School and Jamestown College’s Erie Bragg and Derek Wallace have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.
Alison Allmer and Michael Hust of Jamestown High School and Jamestown College’s Erie Bragg and Derek Wallace have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.
Allmer ran a state-qualifying time of 5:20.02 in the 1600 at the Lisbon Track Meet. The junior runner also ran a leg on the Blue Jays’ winning mile relay team.
Hust, a junior on the JHS track team, won the 200 meter dash and ran legs on the Blue Jays’ winning 100 and 200 relay at the meet in Lisbon.
Bragg, a senior from Carrollton, Texas on the JC women’s wrestling team, placed second at 77 kilograms with a record of 2-1 at the USA Wrestling University Nationals Tournament in Oklahoma City.
Wallace, a senior from Oxbow, Saskatchewan on the JC baseball team, had two grand slams in the Jimmies’ win over Dakota State on Sunday. He finished with three hits and 8 RBIs.
