ND emergency agencies in oil patch get $12M

Law enforcement, fire department and ambulance services will receive a $12 million this year under a North Dakota program that provides funding to counties adversely affected by oil development.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Law enforcement, fire department and ambulance services will receive a $12 million this year under a North Dakota program that provides funding to counties adversely affected by oil development.

The Forum reports that the state Board of University and School Lands unanimously agreed Thursday to increase the amount from $7 million to $12 million.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple says the needs in the oil patch are much greater than even a few months ago.

There were 163 applications asking for $40.4 million. The board agreed to give partial funding to 106 requests.
