The Jimmie women’s softball team righted the ship in Sioux City, Iowa over the weekend.

After falling in five straight outings, Jamestown College bounced back in a big way to find itself carrying a four-game winning streak at the conclusion of the Morningside Invitational on Sunday.

On Saturday, the Jimmies blanked Dakota Wesleyan 8-0 and then took down Mount Marty 4-1. Jamestown College rode that momentum into Sunday, where they shut out Dakota Wesleyan again by the final of 8-0 before finishing the tournament with a 6-1 victory over Midland University.

The Jimmies are now over the .500 mark with a record of 13-12. The team’s home-opener is Tuesday, where they’ll face Valley City State at McElroy Park beginning at 3 p.m.

All of that success was to the chagrin of Dakota Wesleyan starting pitcher Katie Uttecht. Uttecht allowed four earned runs in her four innings of work.

Courtney Van Den Bussche, Kelsie Jensen and Johnson all went 2-for-3 at the dish, as the Jimmies’ bats came alive. Van Den Bussche smacked a triple, stole a base and scored three runs, while Johnson and Spear both drove in a pair.

In five innings, Lees struck out two and walked one.
