No decision on proposed Grand Forks sex shop

Grand Forks City Council members have delayed a decision on a proposed licensing ordinance for sex shops following testimony for and against a controversial new business.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Grand Forks City Council members have delayed a decision on a proposed licensing ordinance for sex shops following testimony for and against a controversial new business.

The owner of the Fargo-based adult lingerie store Fantasy's plans to lease a building in Grand Forks that is a block away from an elementary school. Some residents have objected, and city leaders are considering new zoning regulations. The council on Monday night decided to study the matter some more before making a decision.

Fantasy's owner Kim Patterson says most of the merchandise she will sell already is available at other retailers, and that a back room with sex toys will be open only to adults. She says her Fargo store has had no problems.
