Search finds driver after crash between train, pickup truck

Members of the New Rockford Fire Department, Wells and Eddy counties’ sheriff’s offices, New Rockford Ambulance Service and volunteers participated in a search and rescue operation Tuesday morning after a crash between a train and a pickup truck at about 3:30 a.m. The incident occurred west of New Rockford in Wells County.

Members of the New Rockford Fire Department, Wells and Eddy counties’ sheriff’s offices, New Rockford Ambulance Service and volunteers participated in a search and rescue operation Tuesday morning after a crash between a train and a pickup truck at about 3:30 a.m. The incident occurred west of New Rockford in Wells County.

The occupant of the truck was not immediately found at the scene.

Bruce Hirchert, assistant chief of the New Rockford Fire Department, said the man was found uninjured at about 10:30 a.m. Searchers used all-terrain-vehicles and walked on foot during the effort.

Travis Tesch, Wells County deputy sheriff, said the incident was under investigation. Further details and the identity of the subject are to be released later today.
