Businesses evacuate after gas line cut

Three businesses north of Dickinson were evacuated after a natural gas line was damaged by a construction crew.

DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — Three businesses north of Dickinson were evacuated after a natural gas line was damaged by a construction crew.

Rural Fire Chief Andy Paulson told The Dickinson Press that the gas in the line did not ignite, and no one was hurt in the Tuesday morning incident. He said the evacuation was precautionary.

Montana-Dakota Utilities owns the line that was cut. Spokesman Mark Hanson said gas was released for about an hour before it could be shut off for repairs. He did not have an estimate on how much gas was released.
